WHAT IS THE HOURGLASS TUMMY TUCK?

The hourglass tummy tuck is the only tummy tuck technique that will give you not just a flat abdomen, but an hourglass shape. It is a combination of three different procedures:

  1.   A traditional tummy tuck.
  2.   Liposuction of the abdomen, flank, sides, and back.
  3.   Fat transfer to the hips.

Studies have shown that about 8% of women have an hourglass shape. This means that the ratio between the waist and hip area is more than 0.7. Most patients require different surgical interventions to recreate the hourglass figure. During this procedure, I perform all the techniques of a traditional tummy tuck: cutting the excess skin and tightening the abdominal wall. I also perform liposuction on the back, abdomen, flanks, and sides, and transfer the fat collected from all of these different anatomical areas into the hips. The fat is processed and placed in syringes, and then, using a 3 mm injection cannula, it is injected in the hip area in multiple passes. This process requires a lot of experience and technique. There is not a lot of space for mistakes, because the anatomical area is small and the amount of fat that you can put in is limited by the space itself. By changing the proportion of the hip area, you can have a better result. Performing a fat transfer to the hips is a must for the hourglass tummy tuck technique. By applying these steps and creating a better hip-to-waist ratio, you are going to have a nicer result and your satisfaction will improve significantly.
